How does it feel? The first time you tried something new, what happened in your head? What were your emotions and thoughts before, during and after the new experience. Today I experienced kayaking in the Catawba River. This experience reminded me that although I don't allow fear to stay long in my head space, it hung out for awhile while my kayak was being pushed into the water. No one told me what to do after the kayak slowly floated down the river. As I looked to my left and right at miles of water around me, I simply started to move my oar. Left then right. Forward stroke, backward stroke, "I am moving forward now..." No one of us has all of the exact, accurate instructions on everything that we experience in our lives. We are adequately equipped to just positively use our God Given Mind. Make a decision to move forward and just do it!
Week long Birthday/"EarthDay" celebrations found me experiencing and connecting to aerial fitness/dancing, whitewater rafting and facing fear with determination to move through it! I finally visited and participated in the events of the US National White Water Center. The Mega Zip and Hawk Jump truly stretched me out of my comfort zones! How do you look fear in the face and ignore it? I have been taught and believed that fear stood for False Evidence Appearing Real. As I climbed the pole of the Hawk Jump I wondered what was false in this experience. I was climbing a telephone pole elevating myself one foot at a time climbing 41 feet into the air to land on a narrow wood jump platform. I would then step off into the air. Whew, as I write I still feel that moment! That one step into the air. No worries in that moment of feet to the air. Safely landing! Thank God for providing the net...
I truly understand the importance of body movement aka exercise even if I fall short on doing it daily. As part of my "EarthDay" celebrations I decided to try body movement activities different from my normal choices. My body quickly reminded me that I must gain a higher level of strength and control of my miraculous muscle groups. Aerial Scarf Dancing was my choice and it was a body wake up call! Whew!!! I will work on strengthening my core, arm and leg strength so that I will experience, feel and see the positive difference when I reach 60 years of vibrant living!
In 5 days I will have reached the seasoned age of 59! Although I have been ignoring repeated requests to join AARP it is now time to admit that I have truly arrived and attained the status to officially join. I have decided that I will declare to move my body, mind and spirit toward embracing higher levels of Love to Me. I will examine and tell the truth to myself so that I can grow to be the best that I can be! Join me as I look in the mirror at my next 365 days reaching toward turning 60 years young!
